PHILADELPHIA -- On the bright side for Andy Reid , by the time the New England Patriots were done with Sunday's 38-20 drubbing of his Philadelphia Eagles , there weren't enough fans in the stands to start another round of "Fire Andy" chants.

Tom Brady threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, Wes Welker caught eight passes for 115 yards and two scores and BenJarvus Green-Ellis scored two first-half touchdowns to lead the Patriots to their third straight win.

New England (8-3) remains two games ahead of the Jets in the AFC East. The Eagles (4-7) fell to three behind Dallas in the NFC East.

A game some in the preseason pegged as a Super Bowl preview ended with a mass exodus from the Philadelphia faithful during the fourth quarter. The Eagles have lost eight of nine at home, dating to last season. Reid, who has coached in Philadelphia since 1999 and is the NFL 's longest-tenured coach, said he did not hear the chants in the third quarter calling for his firing.

"I really don't hear much down there," Reid said. "The way we played, we deserved it."

After the game, Vince Young , who started at quarterback in place of the injured Michael Vick , praised Reid.

"I'm just now getting a full taste of this kind of stuff," Young said. "Andy's a tremendous guy and I have the utmost respect for him. Fans don't understand some of the situations that go on with the game. You can't really put it all on Andy."

"I didn't realize that's what they were chanting," Allen said. "Those are our fans. That's our coach. We'll go to bat for him every day."

Like Young, Allen placed the blame on the players. In the second quarter, he bit on a play fake and left Welker wide open for a 41-yard touchdown that made it 21-10.

Young finished with 400 yards passing, though most of that production came with the game out of hand. It was Young who dubbed the Eagles a "Dream Team" this summer.

Things got so out of hand Sunday that Brady, who finished 24-for-34, took a seat in the fourth quarter, yielding to second-year QB Brian Hoyer for the first time all season. It was a show of sportsmanship from Patriots coach Bill Belichick , who after the game called Reid, "One of the best coaches in the league."
