Artist Spotlight: Elvis Perkins

Singer/songwriter Elvis Perkins.

Endearing, sometimes melancholy acoustic singer/songwriterism in the classical tradition. The son of Hollywood legend Anthony Perkins and photographer Berry Berenson, Elvis grew up in New York and Los Angeles, playing in a few bands while studying classical guitar and gaining an appreciation for retro folk-rock. Following the death of his parents (Anthony Perkins died of AIDS in 1992 and Berenson died in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks), Elvis released his debut album, the somber Ash Wednesday , in 2007. His touring band, Elvis Perkins In Dearland, released an album of the same name in 2009.

Leonard Cohen, Ryan Adams, Neutral Milk Hotel, and other somber men with acoustic guitars.
