Marching band results

Norwell, Homestead, Carroll, Woodlan, Concordia Lutheran, Columbia City and Bluffton were among area high school marching bands earning top honors in contests Saturday.

Competing at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Norwell took first place in Class C and also won the music, visual effect and general effect awards, according to IndianaMarching.com.

Leo finished second in the class.

In Class B, Goshen took top honors, while DeKalb was third, North Side was fourth and Wawasee sixth.

In Class A, Homestead took first and won the music and visual awards. Snider finished third, Huntington North sixth and Warsaw eighth.

Competing at East Noble High School in Kendallville, Carroll took first place in Class A and won music and general effect awards. Snider finished second and Huntington North third.

In Class B, Columbia City finished first and took awards in music, visual and general effect. South Side placed second, Wayne third and Bellmont fourth in the class.

In Class C, Concordia Lutheran took first place and won music, visual, general effect and sweepstakes awards. Heritage finished second, Garrett third and New Haven fourth in the class.

In Class D, Woodlan took first place and won visual and general effect awards. Adams Central finished second and won the music award. Hicksville, Ohio, placed fifth.

Competing at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Bluffton placed first in Class A and took music and visual awards. Bishop Dwenger finished fourth in the class.

In Class AAA, Angola finished second and won a general effect award.

In Class AAAA, Northrop finished second and tied with Warren Central for the general effect award. Northrop also tied with New Palestine as reserve grand champion.
