Best-selling children’s author Bart King will be writing his next book in the front window of A Children’s Place bookstore in Northeast Portland as lead-in to the city's book festival, Wordstock .

Passersby will get to see King work on his new young adult novel, "No Vampires. No Zombies. One Demon." And as he says in a press release: "Additionally, they may be treated to rare glimpses of the writer chatting, snacking, and goofing off."

King, who may be best known for funny books such as "The Big Book of Boy Stuff," will be writing on a laptop and his laptop will be projected onto a large screen.

He's doing it to drum up enthusiasm for Wordstock, which will be Oct. 8 and 9 at the Oregon Convention Center.

A Children's Place is at 4807 N.E. Fremont St. King will be there in the window 3-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3; 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4; 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5; 2-5 p.m. Thursday Oct. 6; 1:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7.
