Auto Handlers have a handle on used cars

— For some years now, the tanking economy has created a domino effect on many businesses and industries, including the automobile industry.

Factors that have affected the automobile industry include a drop in new car sales, high car leasing (which has cut into the number of trade-ins coming into new car dealerships), and an influx of foreign buyers into the American market, which are driving market prices and shipping cars out of the country. All of these factors have resulted in small quantity of quality used cars and escalating prices.

Auto Handlers LLC recognizes how all these dynamics play into its customers’ concerns and budget. With conscious effort the Auto Handlers team pinpoints quality preowned vehicles to fit every budget.

"Buying a car is a major investment for people, and we want to make that decision a happy one for our clients," said owner Joe Links.

With a combined 55 years of experience in customer service, automobile savoir faire and business savvy, the staff of Auto Handlers LLC will give customers a top-notch shopping experience in preowned cars.

Links was an executive director for a major Wall Street firm for 35 years, thus bringing a clear understanding of the importance of the client relationship and protecting the brand name. President David Dursema has under his belt around 25 years experience as a salesman, sales manager and general managers for car dealerships throughoutBergen County.

Customers that visit Auto Handlers can expect to be greeted by one of the owners. The dealership currently does not employ salespeople.

The dealership, which opened last June, has been concentrating on offering Japanese cars because of their history of better make and reasonable price ranges.

Joe’s son Adam, who takes care of Auto Handlers’ acquisition of preowned cars via different sales outlets, graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a degree in business management.

Adam toils in the sale hunt from dealerships, wholesalers, individuals and the Internet. Once a candidate for purchase is identified, Dursema and an Auto Handlers mechanic will inspect the vehicle to determine the strength and weakness of the car.

Since Links hails from New Hope, Penn., Auto Handlers LLC has several dealership contacts in that state. The business has aPatersonwholesaler and the staff goes to auctions to acquire cars.

When customers visit the Auto Handlers lot, they can expect not only car expertise and friendliness, but also a strong family atmosphere. Joe and Adam Links are father and son, while Dursema is Joe’s brother-in-law. Adam worked with Dursema the summer before his college graduation.

When asked what he loves about cars, Dursema replied, "Everything." A car and motorcycle enthusiast since boyhood, Dursema’s passion for cars comes through when running his business.

"I just like cars in general," he said. "It’s easy to do this when you like something. If you don’t like cars, it’s very hard to do. If you’re into it, if you like cars, it makes life a lot easier."

Auto Handlers LLC will sponsor a Halloween treat sale on Saturday, Oct. 22 between 9 a.m. and 6 pm. There will be free hot dogs, apple cider and pumpkins for the kids. The staff invites all to visit the dealership’s new inventory of four-wheel drive vehicles.
