The Daily News has learned that wide receiver Logan Payne suffered a dislocated left wrist during last night’s 17-3 win against the Giants. Payne, whose wrist was reset, didn’t return to the game. He will undergo an MRI this morning to determine if there is ligament damage, according to a source.
Payne, who is battling Patrick Turner for the final wideout spot on the roster, was injured during the Jets’ second punt of the game midway through the first quarter. Giants’ Antrel Rolle pushed Payne into Jacquian Williams during the return. Payne immediately grabbed his left wrist in pain.
After the game, Payne said the wrist felt sore and didn't believe it was broken. Rex Ryan didn’t know the extent of the injury immediately afterward.
“He had a wrist injury,” Ryan said. “Sorry about that, but that is about as good as I can do. He never returned so I don’t know what it is exactly.”
Payne took two snaps with the first-team offense on the Jets’ second series of the game, while Santonio Holmes ran into the locker room for an apparent equipment change.
