NIAGARA FALLS — The “War of 1812,” a two-hour documentary about the struggle that helped shape the destiny of North America, will be aired tonight on the Public Broadcasting System nationwide.

In the Buffalo-Niagara area, it will be shown at 9 p.m. on WNED-TV (Channels, 3, 17).

“The war fought nearly two centuries ago is a war worth remembering,” said Donald K. Boswell, president and CEO of WNED, “The outcome helped define our national culture and heritages.”

Sometimes called ‘The Forgotten War,’ the struggling U.S. took the strong aggressive action against Great Britain, then the most powerful nation in the world.
