Texans promote LB Alexander from practice squad - Houston Chronicle

To replace injured linebacker Darryl Sharpton, the Texans have promoted Mister Alexander from the practice squad.

Replacing Alexander on the practice squad is Derrell Smith, one of four free agent linebackers to work out for the Texans on Tuesday. The others were Josh Bynes, David Nixon and Mike Rivera.

Darryl Sharpton (torn quad tendon) was lost for the season when he was injured in Sunday's 24-14 victory over Jacksonville.

Alexander, who played at Aldine Eisenhower and Florida State, signed with the Texans as an undrafted rookie in July. He was with them in camp and preseason.
