Without the race card to play, JWP would be nothing more than a political thug, no ifs, ands, or buts about it; his criminal record as a thug speaks for itself. But who manufactures the race cards Price gets to play which then enable him to turn what would otherwise be unequivocal criminal thuggishness into something more ambiguous, into, say, that mystical racial struggle exemplified in ripping off windshield wipers? Sadly, it's folks like Jim Schutze, who's made a living by, among other things, handing out all-purpose, self-adhesive "racism" cards like pads of Post-It notes to be used willy-nilly, no matter how distant from anything resembling true racism the item in question might really be. In fact, in this post itself Schutze does a bang-up job of demonstrating just how a seasoned pro works both sides of the racism aisle. "You really wanna get rid of that thing that irritates you that you can't get a handle on otherwise, that thing that makes your head hurt too much when you try to think it all the way through, that irritating social spot you just can't otherwise scrub out? Stick one of these babies on it. BAM! It's instant stink, like Emeril in reverse; nobody'll wanna touch it, who knows, it might really even be contagious now, like cooties. No, no thanks needed, and just keep the rest of the pack. They're already pre-printed with RACISM in all caps, and self-adhesive, so any idiot can use 'em. No, really, no need to thank me, and, here, here's another pack, just 'cause today's Wednesday. No, really, don't worry, we'll make more. We've got the press." So, while I might disagree a bit with Brenda Marks above - no, County Commissioner JWP himself IS the "powers that be", quite sufficient to the task, thank you very much, no lurking ghosts needed, just Аск Sherbet - to some extent she's also right: there IS a shadowy cadre of others, probably a majority of them actually white, just proportionately, who continue to create the environment without which a JWP would have long ago become nothing more than an extinct, anachronistic cartoon. Instead, thanks to the robustly healthy, chickenshit power politics of indiscriminate social shaming, what we popularlu often call Political Correctness, he continues to thrive as a major playa and our very own County Commissioner, as will anyone else who follows or accompanies him and avails himself or herself of the same tools.
