FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — New York Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress and kick returner Joe McKnight were not in uniform for practice as the team prepares for its game against the New England Patriots.
Burress dealt with a stiff lower back and was questionable last week before catching a team-high five passes for 79 yards in New York's 27-11 win at Buffalo last Sunday. He was in sweats while the team practiced Wednesday.
It was not immediately known why McKnight was missing practice. He leads the NFL by averaging 40.2 yards per kickoff return.
Safety Brodney Pool (knee) was also not dressed for practice. He was hurt against the Bills, but finished the game.
Tight end Dustin Keller and running back Shonn Greene, who suffered head injuries at Buffalo, participated in the padded practice.
