
Dayton junior golfer Matt Buse (St. Xavier) earned his second career top-10 finish, shooting a 216 to finish in a tie for fifth place at Cincinnati's Bearcat Invitational Oct. 11.
Senior Michael Oberschmidt (McNicholas) shot a 217 to finish in a tie for seventh, and junior Sean Keating (St. Xavier) finished in a tie for fifth with a 218. It was Oberschmidt's third top-10 finish, and for Keating it was the fifth in his career, and second this season.
Buse shot a 70 in the first round and Keating shot a 70 in the third round to tie for team-low rounds. The Flyers finished in third with a 870, second place Kentucky shot an 869, and winner Austin Peay shot an 868.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Notre Dame sophomore Andrew Hendrix (Moeller) was 4-for-4 passing for 33 yards and finished with a team-high 111 yards on six carries in a 59-33 win against Air Force Oct. 8.
Tennessee Martin junior Quentin Sims (Colerain) had five receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown in a 61-23 win against Austin Peay Oct. 8. Sims is second on the team with 16 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns through five games.
Morehead State junior Mark Hall (Lakota East) finished in a tie for second on the team with eight total tackles in a 41-26 loss to Drake Oct. 8.
MEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER: Xavier sophomore Matt Walker (Batavia) scored his third goal in five games in a 2-0 victory over Richmond Oct. 14.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: Duke junior Tara Campbell (McNicholas) had seven saves in a 1-0 win at Boston College. It was her 10th shutout of the season, which set a new school single-season record.
Xavier freshman Katie Markesbery (Indian Hill) had 15 saves as the Musketeers played host Richmond to a 0-0 tie. It was her fourth shutout of the year.
Cincinnati senior Logan Ballinger (Seton) scored a career-high two goals in a 3-0 win against Seton Hall Oct. 14.
Cincinnati Christian University junior Jackie Esterkamp (Oak Hills) was named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and fellow junior Rebecca Duff (Monroe) was named the KIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Esterkamp had her second three goal game of the season in a 7-0 win against Midway Oct. 5, while Duff played in goal.
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Middle Tennessee senior Brynne Henderson (Ursuline) had five digs in a win against Marquette Oct. 11. The five digs gave her 1,001 in her career, which put her in ninth place in school history. She followed that with a match-high 15 digs in a win over Florida Atlantic Oct. 14.
Cincinnati senior Missy Harpenau (Mercy) finished second on the team with both 12 kills and nine digs in a win at Rutgers Oct. 7.
Dayton junior Rachel Krabacher (McAuley) had a match-high 25 kills in a win against Xavier Oct. 14.
UC-Clermont junior Rachel Hays (Amelia) had a career-high 20 kills in a win against Central State Oct. 8. She leads the United State Collegiate Athletic Association with a .426 hitting percentage.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Wilmington senior Pat Carroll (Purcell Marian) set a school 8K record with a time of 25:25.85 at the Wilmington Fall Classic Oct. 14. Carroll finished fifth overall.
COLLEGE ROWING: Louisville freshmen Liz Niehaus (Calvary Christian) and Emma Melton (Williamsburg) were selected to be members of the rowing team this season. They join other locals senior Chelsea Haack (St. Ursula) and sophomore Amy Van Syoc (Milford). Their season begins Oct. 22 at Boston's Head of the Charles.
