Star-Ledger file photo Ethicon-Endo, which makes surgical devices like the ones used in laparoscopic procedures, said it is buying SterilMed, a company that repairs and reprocesses surgical devices.

Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc., a unit of Johnson & Johnson, said it has agreed to buy privately held SterilMed Inc., which repairs and reprocesses medical devices.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SterilMed, based in Maple Grove, Minn., also sells used equipment.

Ethicon, which is based in Cincinnati, makes minimally invasive surgical instruments. Ethicon said the deal helps to broaden its portfolio and expand into a rapidly growing market segment.
