(AP) -- Most sergeants in the New York state police will work 10-hour shifts under a new agreement that the union and police officials say should help limit overtime.

Thomas Mungeer, president of the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association, says most of the 530 non-commissioned officers have been doing that under a pilot program that cut overtime by 43 percent.
