I loved learning about Kareen a woman who follows her heart and talent. This amazing lady spilled about quitting certain things in order to pursue her true vision and it makes a statement to the aspect of follow that heart and many more will follow. K. Borgella is both classy and inspiring. It’s not just fashion, it’s a life story mingled with a desire to be true to yourself. Meet the brand and the creator behind it all.
Introduce K. Borgella and the designer behind the brand:
K.Borgella is a luxury contemporary women’s line created for the fashionista who’s not afraid of color, the woman who loves to express herself though the clothing she wears. It provides unique pieces and dress that can be combined with your own pieces. There is no doubt that I incorporated intricate draping in the majority of the styles and the selection of fabrics, as color and texture are always taken into high consideration.
About Moi….well I’m an American based fashion designer in New York. Originally a pre-med student at Hofstra University Well surprising after my first two years at Hofstra I realized that my heart was not into the whole pre-med thing. I final got the courage to tell my mom that I’m planning on changing my mind and following my passion.
After a few years as Nassau Community College I went to FIT before getting my very first real job in the industry. I study everything from fashion design, European tailoring and draping….my goal was to master the understanding of construction, fit and tailoring.
It’s not always ‘who” but sometimes what or where…for me it can depend on life, my last travel destination and the people I meet. For my S/S 2012 my inspiration was basically confident edgy women.
What is your target audience for your collection?
My target audience will be women from the age of 25-45, single, married, professional…basically any women who is not afraid to love well made clothing, tantalizing colors and desirable fits.
Where can people buy your items?
I’m currently working with boutique in New York and Long Island. I’m hoping to spread as far as L.A, Atlanta and Miami.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
“Simplicity is the Key”…that the best advice I ever received and it was from my mom. She would always tell me big and dramatic will last a minute but simple and chic will last a lifetime. I live by that when it comes to designing my collections.
Who are your favorite emerging designers and what is it that you love about them?
The late great Alexander McQueen…love, love his confidents and his daring pieces. He was an exquisite artist!
Mr. Armani himself, the cuts and fit are incredible. I love the way he can make a a suit looks masculine but feminine at the same time…it’s all about tailoring and I take good pride in that.
Also both Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs two completely opposite in style but both inspire in similar ways.
If you had to give men and women advice on style what would you say?
Be Confident, Be Bold and Live Fancy! That‘s my motto.
Don’t be afraid to try new colors and silhouette but just make sure it’s still flattering to your body and personality.
Escape just for a moment to reflect. Then sit discuss with the number one lady in my life my mom!

Complete this sentence: I’ve learned most from….
My many mistakes…and guess what there will be plenty more. But perfection comes from trail and tribulations.
In a nutshell, your philosophy is?
My philosophy about fashion is…be yourself! Finding your own style is about figuring out what you like and don’t like. It is not about following the fashion trend that comes today and disappears tomorrow. It’s not about expansive pieces but more about investing in pieces that will always continues to be in style …pieces that can enhance items you already have and never fade. Fashion is for people with no understanding of style. Not everyone is cut out to think for themselves. Styles are for those who you are and know how to express oneself without following a trend.
What is your best attribute?
Funny and entertaining keeping a light hearted attitude when possible….even when I’m being challenged. But I will always stay true to who I am.
Words you live by….
Do what you have to do! ……Really! Well as long as it’s not in harm’s way of course (haha)
