USED car salesmen have overtaken builders to top a league of shame for customer complaints.

More than 56,000 drivers have been ripped off so far this year after purchasing a dodgy motor, says the Office of Fair Trading.

And 70% of complaints were for faults after cars had been driven away, leaving buyers with a repair bill of £425.
Consumer Direct’s Michele Shambrook said: “Dealers who sell vehicles that are defective could face enforcement action.”
