Mediacom announced today that it will produce live broadcasts for more than three dozen upcoming college sports events featuring the state’s ‘big 4’ universities of Iowa, Iowa State, Drake and Northern Iowa. The wrestling matches and men’s and women’s basketball games will be televised exclusively on Mediacom’s statewide channel, MC22, which all customers receive.  The live sports broadcasts begin Saturday, November 12, and extend through February.

Wrestling has been added to Mediacom’s sports schedule. In-state match-ups to be televised on MC22 will include the Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Iowa State Cyclones in Ames on December 4, and Iowa State vs. Northern Iowa on February 3. Other high-profile NCAA wrestling matches will be Oklahoma at Iowa State (Nov. 27), Cornell at Iowa State (Jan. 29) and Wisconsin at Northern Iowa (Jan. 13). Champion wrestler Jim Gibbons will provide commentary as part of the MC22 broadcast team for several of the Iowa State wrestling events.

In basketball competition, Mediacom customers will see exclusive coverage of more than 30 games, including eight intrastate rivalries that kick-off next week with a double-header at Drake.  On November 15, the Bulldogs will host the Iowa State Cyclones for women’s and men’s competition, to be televised on MC22 at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, respectively.

Other MC22 coverage will include home games when the ISU women host the Iowa Hawkeyes on December 7 and the UNI Panthers on December 20. Both of those games will tip-off at 7:00 pm. The UNI men also compete against Iowa State at Hilton, a game that will be broadcast on MC22 on November 30. The ISU Women’s schedule will include four Big 12 conference games (complete MC22 broadcast schedule below).

“This is our most extensive schedule of NCAA sports competition, and it underscores the fact that Mediacom is recognized for the value of delivering quality broadcasts to a statewide audience,” said Mediacom Senior Vice President Ed Pardini. “High-interest match-ups are in this winter sports schedule, with televised coverage that Iowans won’t see anywhere else except on the local channel we provide to deliver added value to our Mediacom customers.”

Sports announcer teams for MC22 broadcasts of Drake basketball will be Adam Emmenecker and Larry Morgan for men’s games, and Morgan paired with Laura Leonard for women’s games. When the coverage shifts to Iowa State, the men’s games will be called by BJ Schaben and Paul Doerrfeld, and the women’s games by Schaben and Lyndsey Fennelly.  Basketball coverage from Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be called by Rob Brooks and Mac McCausland for men’s games, with Shelley Till joining Brooks for Iowa women’s games.

With the exception of three tape delay broadcasts, the games will be broadcast live and statewide on MC22. Additional coverage may be added as the season progresses.  In addition to live action, digital cable viewers can view match-ups anytime by selecting OnDemand local programs (free access).  View the MC22 program schedule online atwww.MC22.net.
