After a decade long run as the most utilized web browser, Internet Explorer is reported by Netmarketshare.com to have its share of web browsing fall to 49.6% in October. What contributed to the downfall was the increased use of tablet and mobile devices, which now account for 6% of web traffic. Firefox is the second most popular web browser with 21.20% of traffic, Google Chrome comes in third with 16.60%, and Safari is at 8.72%. Netmarketshare.com notes that Chrome grew the fastest, last month showing a 1.42% increase in desktop use. Apple's Safari, widely used on the iPad table, now holds 62.17% of all mobile web traffic.
