Less than seven months after breaking the Boston Marathon course record, Kenya 's Geoffrey Mutai outdid himself.
With a time of 2:05.06, he won the 42nd New York City Marathon , breaking Tesfaye's Jifar previous course record by 2:37. The next two finishers, Emmanuel Mutai (no relation to Geoffrey, 2:06.28) and Kenya 's Tsegaye Kebede (2:07.13), also broke the pre-existing course record.
Geoffrey Mutai ran Boston in 2:03.02, which was 57 seconds ahead of the previous world record but was disallowed because it is a point-to-point race.
