Calling all budding young artists.
Submissions are now being sought for youth art contest being held in conjunction with the City of Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade. Entrants can work in a variety of mediums from crayon to sculpture to paper mache. There are three categories: Junior 4-7 years old; Youth 8-12 years old, Teen 13-18 years old.
Free 12-inch X 9-inch canvases with paint available to the first 75 people to enter. The deadline for entries is Thursday, Nov. 10.
Following are the conditions for entry:
• Each Artist may submit one work of art only, to the Historic Niagara Artistic Exhibition Center (HNAEC), 4323 Queen St., by 6 p.m. on Nov. 10;
• All artwork must fit through a standard height door, no larger than 36 inches wide by 96 inches tall;
• All artwork must be original and completed within the last 12 months;
• All artwork must be labelled with the artist’s name, age and phone number:
• Artists under 18 years old require a parent or guardian to sign the entry form;
• Artwork is to be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 19 between noon and 4 p.m. Any artwork remaining after Dec. 4 will become the property of the Historic Niagara Artistic Exhibition Centre and the City of Niagara Falls assumes no responsibility;
• Winners names and photos may be published in local media and the artists agree to abide by the contest rules
Prizes for the contest have been donated by the city’s arts and culture committee, the Build-a-Bear Workshop, Community Artists Niagara, Niagara Theatre and Entertainment and Dynamic Image.
All Art will be displayed from Nov. 10 to 19 at the HNAEC from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
