NIAGARA FALLS — Falls cops collared a pair of brothers after a tense search of a 19th Street building Thursday afternoon following reports that one of men was armed with a gun.

Police said they went to the 400 block of 19th Street, after a call of a man making threats with a gun, and spotted Christopher and Timothy Santiago. Christopher had been identified as the suspect with the gun.

Officers said the brothers began to put their hands in their pockets and moved away from them. As Officer Paul Kudela took Christopher into custody, at gunpoint, Timothy ran to an apartment building in the 600 block of 19th Street.

Other officers surrounded the building and Kudela, along with Detectives Joe Paul and John Conti went inside to a second-floor apartment where they believed Timothy was hiding. The trio entered the apartment and began to search for the suspect.

In a rear bedroom, Conti spotted Timothy hiding under a bed. He refused to get out from under the bed and struggled with officers before they used a Taser to subdue him.

After taking Timothy into custody, both he and his brother were positively identified by two men as the suspects who entered their backyard in the 400 block of 19th Street around 1 p.m. and threatened them. The victim said Christopher “reached into his waistband and pointed at small black handgun at (him and another man) while Timothy Santiago yelled threatening statements.”

Christopher Santiago, 30, 428 20th St., was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment.

Timothy “TJ” Santiago, 26, 428 20th St., was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
