The rookie Drew Pomeranz sparkled in his opener, working five scoreless innings in the Rockies’ 4-1 victory Sunday.
“It didn’t matter if I told you I was going to dominate. It’s not about what you say. You have to go out and do it,” Pomeranz said. “I felt comfortable out there.”
Mom and dad had cameras flickering all day to record the event. Even without photos, this day will be impossible to forget for the 21-year-old and his family. Not only did he win, but he did so just three weeks after an appendectomy.
“There was no way I wasn’t pitching again this season,” Pomeranz said.
