Infographic: Top 20 US Android apps by gender

If men are from Mars and women are from Venus then they’ll obviously have a different taste in Android apps, right? That’s what this new infographic from mobile expertsNielsensays anyway, click onwards for the top five things we learnt from the swish graphic above.

1) Women love Facebook and Twitter Facebook recorded an active reach of 81 per cent with female Android owners while Twitter jotted up a 16.5 per cent reach. Males clocked in with 69 per cent and 13.4 per cent respectively.

2) Gentlemen prefer Google+ Google’s new social network holds more than twice the active reach among men (15.8 per cent) than women (7.2 per cent).

3) Women enjoy words Amazon’s Kindle ebook store and Words With Friends were popular with the ladies. It seems us blokes have a natural aversion to reading.

4) Men don’t mind asking for directions Google Maps, which has 77 per cent active reach among men compared to 71.8 percent among women.

5) Women are killing machines Sort of. The Advanced Task Killer app had an average reach of 28.3 per cent with females. An average reach of only 24.2 per cent was recorded with males.

For those not familiar with analyst jargon, “active reach” is the the percentage of Android owners who used an app within the past 30 days.
