The Fairview Heights City Council will introduce an ordinance Tuesday that will prohibit the personal sale of boats, cars and other vehicles in commercial areas.
The proposed ordinance derived from complaints from some aldermen that such displays of used vehicles and handmade for-sale signs detract from the city's business areas.

Former alderman Gil Klein said the ordinance takes away from his rights as a tax-paying property owner. His bass boat is currently for sale and parked in front of his business on Lincoln Trail.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Complex, 10025 Bunkum Road.
