Fabulous! at FIDM

The Museum & Galleries at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising has spent the last 10 years amassing an impressive collection of iconic fashion—and with the opening of its latest exhibition, titled, appropriately enough, Fabulous!, museum visitors can take a look

Among the pieces is composer Joseph Hayden’s walking stick, a Charles Frederick Worth gown, a day dress by Coco Chanel, an evening gown by costume designer Adrian and Mae West’s sky-high platform shoes. There are plenty of more-contemporary pieces, as well, including designs by Rudi Gernreich, Carolina Herrera, Gianni Versace, Halston and Alexander McQueen.

The exhibition includes 175 pieces donated to and purchased by the museum since 2000. The garments and accessories span 1800 to 2010.

The FIDM Museum & Galleries is located in downtown Los Angeles and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and the exhibition runs until December.
