Erika Slezak's Vicki Lord, others to join One Life to Live's online incarnation - National daytime tv | Examiner.com

Great news for fans of ABC's daytime drama, One Life To Live. It seems at least four of the show's current cast members will get a chance at a second life when the show moves to an online format.

When word leaked back in July that Prospect Park was showing interest in continuing to produce both cancelled ABC soaps, One Life to Live and All My Children, things seemed a bit iffy. With this week's statement to the press that Prospect Park, a forthcoming online video network similar to Hulu, has reached an agreement with four of OLTL's existing cast members, things are looking up.

It has been revealed that fans can look forward to storylines involving longtime favorites, John McBain and Blair Cramer (played by Michael Easton and Kassie DePaiva), as well as relative newcomer Thomas Delgado (Ted King).

Of course the big news for OLTL's faithful audience comes with word that series matriarch, Victoria Lord-Riley-Burke-Riley-Buchanan-Buchanan-Carpenter-Davidson-Banks (Erika Slezak) will continue in the role she's portrayed since 1971!

When you think about it, signing Slezak is really like signing half-a-dozen actors, considering, in addition toLlanview's beloved Vicki, she also frequently appears as alternate personalities, Niki Smith, Tommy, Jean Randolph, Princess, Tori and Victor Lord, thanks to Vicki suffering from DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).

It should be noted that the agreements between Prospect Park and the above-mentioned stars is contingent upon approval from AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), the union that represents performers and broadcasters.

OLTL is scheduled to conclude its 43-year run in January of 2012. A few weeks ago, several online soap sites erroneously reported that OLTL would debut online on January 16. Prospect Park has since denied that launch date, stating only that the series will debut online at some point in the first quarter of 2012.

What About All My Children?

As for OLTL's sister soap, All My Children, recent reports indicate that series star Susan Lucci, who has played the ultimate soap diva, Erica Kane, since 1970, has balked at initial offers from Prospect Park, which reportedly would match her current ABC deal.

Many fans would agree that AMC without Erica Kane just wouldn't be the same. So, until La Lucci inks a deal, and let's face it, she's just gotta. With ABC having taped their final episode of All My Children on August 30, fans will bid farewell, at least for now, when the final ABC episode airs September 23.

Are you a fan of OLTL or AMC? If so, please comment below with your wishlist of characters you hope make the transition when (and if) the shows make the move from TV to internet.
