NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.—A 19- year-old Scarborough, Ont., woman who authorities say was trying to commit suicide by way of the Horseshoe Falls was rescued Wednesday afternoon, Niagara Parks Police reported.
The woman, whose name was withheld, was being treated for back injuries after a nearly 20-foot fall into the Niagara River at the Canadian Niagara Power Plant, 7005 Niagara River Parkway.

NIAGARA FALLS — Citing a number of concerns with the Niagara Falls wrestling program, 21-year veteran coach Israel Martinez will not return to coach the Wolverines this winter.
Martinez said the lack of practice space, the standing of the modified program and storage issues in the school became too much to handle.

Norwell, Homestead, Carroll, Woodlan, Concordia Lutheran, Columbia City and Bluffton were among area high school marching bands earning top honors in contests Saturday.
Competing at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Norwell took first place in Class C and also won the music, visual effect and general effect awards, according to IndianaMarching.com.
